Traditional Tiramisu

Everybody loves the delicious taste and aroma of coffee. And we all love sweets. Combine the two and you get one of the world's tastiest desserts - tiramisu! To make your day a little bit sweeter we we wrote up grandma's recipe for traditional tiramisu. It's sinfully good 😉

INGREDIENTS:
  • 500 g mascarpone cheese
  • 1 pack Ladyfingers cookies
  • 2 fresh eggs
  • 4 tablespoons of sugar (can be brown as long as fine crystals)
  • 2 cups of black coffee (for premium taste we suggest freshly ground coffee by Apollo Chef Coffee Grinder A16)
  • 14 fl oz heavy cream
  • Cocoa powder to taste)
METHOD:

First brew some strong, black coffee. Leave to chill, and strain any sediment.

Separate the egg whites and yolks. Whip the yolks together with sugar until completely dissolved.

Add the mascarpone, then slowly and gently mix in the whipped yolks and sugar.

Place your ladyfingers at the bottom of a suitable pan or glass (if making tiramisu in several glasses/jars). It’s ok if some of them break, as this will help to better coat the bottom.

Slowly dip each ladyfinger into coffee. When the cookie stops absorbing coffee, it is soaked enough.

Spread half of the cream over the top. On top of the cream place another layer of ladyfingers and once again our coffee over top (again stopping before they become over-saturated).

Cover this layer with the rest of the cream, then smooth it out. For a lovely garnish sprinkle lightly with cocoa powder.

Place in the refrigerator for at least an hour or two before serving.
